Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before your first visit at Golden Hour Pilates and Rehab in Portsmouth.

Do I need a referral to start physical therapy in New Hampshire?

No. New Hampshire allows direct access to physical therapy, which means you can schedule a discovery call and get started without seeing a doctor first. If you'd like to use your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement, we provide superbills to support that process.

What happens during the first visit?

Your first visit is a comprehensive evaluation where we take time to understand your history, your goals, and how your body is moving. From there, we build an individualized plan whether that's physical therapy, private reformer Pilates, or a combination of both. Nothing is cookie-cutter here.

Is this physical therapy, Pilates, or both?

It can be either or both, depending on what you need. Many clients begin with physical therapy and transition into ongoing private reformer Pilates as their symptoms improve giving them a sustainable path forward rather than stopping when the pain goes away. We'll help you figure out the right starting point on your discovery call.

Why is this cash-based? What about my insurance?

Being cash-based means your hour is your hour. There's no double-booking, no rushing through exercises, and no care decisions made around insurance codes. We provide superbills so you can seek out-of-network reimbursement from your insurer if your plan allows it. Many clients find the one-on-one model more than worth it.

What should I wear and bring to my first appointment?

Wear comfortable, stretchy clothing you can move in leggings and a fitted top work well. You'll want to be able to move freely on the reformer and through any movement assessments. If you have any imaging reports or prior PT notes, feel free to bring those along, but they're not required to get started.

Still have questions?

Reach out with any questions and we'll be happy to help!

Ready to Feel Stronger and Move With Confidence?

You don't have to keep guessing what's causing your pain or pushing through on your own. Book a discovery call and let's build a plan that's made for you not a protocol designed for everyone else.
